Nigeria Summons Zimbabwean Ambassador Over Mugabe’s Corruption Comment

By  |

The Nigerian government is angry with the comments of Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe who referred to Nigeria as corrupt during a recent address of his countrymen.
Mr Mugabe had in an address to his countrymen sometime in March said “Are we now like Nigeria where you have to reach into your pocket to get anything done?” when it came to corruption”to the annoyance of the Nigerian government who on Thursday summoned the Zimbabwean envoy Stanley Kunjeku, expressing disappointment over his president’s statement and calling Mr Mugabe’s comment “vitriolic and denigrating”.
“Not only does it not reflect the reality in our country, but to come from a sitting president of a brotherly country is most unkind and very dishonourable,” the Nigerian foreign affairs ministry had said.
